Hi and welcome to GCSE Sociology!

We will be following the AQA Sociology specification, we will be covering all the topics such as families, education, crime and deviance etc, to complete the content in a year.

Please see the recommended textbook to support your studies. There are two text books that are useful for the course. The preferred text book is the Sociology AQA GSCE book by Brown.

There is also the Collins text book by Wilson, Kidd and Addison. This one is more detailed and can be used for wider reading.

Here is a link to some practice GCSE papers – I would suggest that students who are planning to sit the GCSE exam familiarise themselves with the format – AQA | Sociology | GCSE | GCSE Sociology

Here is a link to a useful documents that has the command words for the exam questions – AQA | Command words

Guidance on 12 mark questions – 12 mark guidance

Please find attached some additional revision resources for those of you who are sitting the 2025 exams

Revision Guide (Research Methods)  Summary grids of all key studies    Socio GCSE booklet – summary revision

Due to the success of our trial with having recordings of some GCSE classes as mini courses on llpextralearningspace.co.uk we are including these course topics within our mini courses. This then allows you to buy previous lessons in topic packs either for revision purposes or to do a previous topic yourselves. This will potentially then over the next couple of years enable either part or the whole course to be bought instead or as well as our live lesson/ recording for two weeks. We recognise that this will have some issues for those that do not wish to be on camera. So we are changing the format of this class very slightly so that the visual register and any informal discussions happen before and after the lesson itself is recorded. The teachers will all have their settings set to speaker view so that the thumbnail of whoever is speaking will only be highlighted when or if they speak. If they don’t wish to be seen while speaking they can also switch off their video before speaking or at any part of the lesson after the visual register. If this causes any further concerns at all though do contact us to set up a password.
